Commercial Windows
Tilt-and-Turn Commercial Windows
One sash with two operations: a tilt inward from the head, and a turn inward on a side hinge.
A tilt-and-turn window uses hardware that supports both positions on the same sash. It is specified when the documents ask for that dual operation. It is not a substitute label for a single-hung or a casement.
The turn position swings into the room, so the plan needs interior clearance. The tilt position is the ventilation setting. Send both the handing and a note that the specification is tilt-and-turn, not tilt-only.
Where it is specified

Questions
Before you price this item.
Is tilt-and-turn the same as a casement?
No. A casement typically swings outward on side hinges. Tilt-and-turn hardware tilts inward and also turns inward.
What if the spec only says tilt?
Send the hardware schedule. A tilt-only sash and a tilt-and-turn sash are quoted differently.
